1. What are complete (full) dentures?
Complete dentures are man made replacements when all of the
natural teeth in the upper or lower jaw, or both are missing. Full
dentures are placed on the soft (gum) tissue in the mouth over the
bone ridge. Our dentist uses several different steps not commonly
utilized, to make sure your denture will fit the shape of your mouth
in the best way possible. A chief goal also is to recover the lost
support for your face. Correct design and careful fabrication of
complete dentures helps restore clear speech and enhance your
appearance.
2. What is removable partial bridgework (partial dentures)?
Removable partial bridgework can be used in certain cases when
there are still enough key natural teeth remaining in the mouth.
Partial bridgework is removable by the patient, which makes cleaning
the teeth and partial bridge easier. The prosthetic teeth on partial
bridgework can look very natural and are made from high impact
dental materials. Partial dentures usually incorporate special
attachments to help hold them in place. Removable partial dentures
rest on the teeth and soft gum tissues for support. This usually
allows the patient the opportunity to choose a variety of treatment
options.
